New Su-24

The old CSLA 1.11's Su-24 model has been updated and skinned by Fasya!

T-55 Update!

The following models have been updated to the CSLA 3.0 standards (6 death animations + 5 fatality animations) and got 'rolling wheels':

- T-55A: 11 animations and now it carries infantry (known as "peoples").
- T-55AM1: 11 animations and now it carries infantry (known as "peoples").
- T-55A JNA: 11 animations and now it carries infantry (known as "peoples").

The machine-gun shoot point has been corrected, the meshes' pivots have been placed properly and the model's body has received a few updates. Moreover, the skins for the T-55 from the CSLA army have been revised and updated.

(*) This model isn't exactly the same one as the ones in the Russian series: They don't share the same UV map. The same thing applies to the T-55AM2 and the T-72M4 which still need to be updated to the 3.0 standards from scratch.

Official CSLA 1.2's WIPs

Here are some CSLA 1.2 Official release WIPs posted in the Blitzkrieg Headquarters forum a few years ago. That Mod wasn't ever released, but you can find all the new units in CSLA 2.0 since Ice Bear personally provided me them all. Remember CSLA 1.2 (Ares' release) is not the official one. The WIPs were taken from Blitz Union and are of a very poor quality since the links are down (they are only miniatures).

This seems to be the Main Menu wallpaper.

-ZiL-157 Engineering: The gunners from the towed guns are now displayed.
-BVP-2: Rolling wheels + 11 animations
-T-72A: Rolling wheels + Peoples (it already had 11 animations).

-Chieftain Mk.5: Armour values have been revised according to www.inetres.com source.

University's back.

Yep, I am starting a new semester at University, and that means I'll lack of free time for a (long) while. I bet I'll work on something whenever I found some spare time for it, but I am afraid I am not going to be able to make new announcements or big releases.
That's why I'll be frozing the "to-do list". :)
You can check the last one whenever you want.

I'll see whether I can release a small patch by the end of the year: a long time ago Ice Bear suggested me doing something that could be (more or less) easily be done.

Wanna have a clue about what could it be? "They see me rollin'..." (And now, say it in Czech).

Regards guys.
 - Kevin

PS: Would you like to see what I'll be seeing every morning until next July? 'Thought about sharing a picture of my new books (seriously), but I bet that one, which is taken from Wikipedia, is nicier :P
I might be uploading my own one...

Feldgrau does it again!

One of the most talented Blitzkrieg Modders from Germany, Feldgrau, is helping us with the task of renovating CSLA's infantry. His work speaks for itself.

This .gif shows up how one of the new VDV skins is done.

Update on the to-do list (1/09/2014).

I am afraid there are no news this week. The only changes that have been done over the passed the few days were the change of several infantry names in the Spanish version of the MOD as well as the re-organization of several paths and folders which already existed in the MOD.

Update on the to-do list (25/08/2014).

Tasks

-Update all the 2013/2014 releases and place them properly in the mod (icons, descriptions, xml values and so on). Replace the old models.
* T-55 series (includes old models).
* Iran - Iraq series
* Type 59/69 series
* Artillery series
* Boats series
* T-64 series

* Some CSLA 1.11 airplanes which need either a new model or a new skin.
-New infantry for Iran, Iraq. New skins.
-Include the new weapons.

Patches (I'll work on most of them once the aims posted above are accomplished).

-Increase infantry's HP.
-Increase light armoured and non-armoured vehicles HP. Add some armour to all of them.
-Update track's lifetime and tone depending on the weight of the vehicles.
-Slightly increase turret's and track's rotating time. Decrease heavy weaponry reloading frequency.
-Decrease weaponry's attack power.
-Increase infantry's AT weaponry reload time.

CSLA 3.0's civilian units!

So here they are, the civilian vehicles that are being included in CSLA 3.0. The number of them isn't as big as CSLA 2.0's, I know, but that one was bigger because many units came from Kosovo Sunrise and Conflict 2012 (thank you so, so much, Aleks) and others came from the T-34 Mod.

You can find two great buses, the Ikarus 260. Moreover, you can see the Mercedes 450, the UAZ-452 and some others as well.

I expect to arrange the ZiL-157 series tomorrow (the one you see in that picture is already arranged) and then I'll get to work on the T-55 series.

Runway objects

Here are some new CSLA 3.0 objects (the last ones for this release) I've created specially to decorate runways. The groundlamps are based on gagarin's 2.0 groundlamp and the Cessna objects are based on the 3.0's Cessna. The other ones were based on simple objects and made and painted...
I hope you like them. As you might know, I am not a 2D artist, so that's not my cup of tea.

Update on the to-do list (12/08/2014).

[Tutorial] LUA scripts for night and an allied IA

The first part of this little tutorial couldn't have been done without the help of ElGotele, whose script for his Pegasus Bridge map included in OBM 1.0 was the key to learn how a night effect using LUA scripts can be done in Blitzkrieg without need of changing tiles or skins (even thought maybe the result isn't as good as it was in Desert's Operation Vampire).

The code is as simple as what follows:

function DebugView()
Password( "www.dtf.ru" );
ChangeWarFog(2); -- Night.
Suicide();
end;

function Init()
RunScript("DebugView", 0000);
end;

The second part of this tutorial explains how an allied IA can be created in Blitzkrieg. It's basically a copy of what tedi88 posted on Blitz Srbija, so all the credits of this part go to him (well, we should also mention Stanenberg who helped to understand how it works and provided examples). Here are his wise words:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tutorial for having several sides in single player map in BK, consists of 2 phases.

Phase 1 is done in MapEditor and includes adding new players to the map. Phase 2 requires a small script.

    I -  So Phase 1 consists of 4 steps:

1. Access the diplomacy tab in MapEditor (picture).

2. After you click on it will show a window which has following list of players:

Player 0 - Players forces
Player 1 - Enemy forces
Player 2 - Neutral forces

To increase the number of players you'll need to click on "Add" button. Be careful as the field which says "Game Type" must be set to Single Player. You can add a maximum of 16 players.

You must have at least one player that is "Side 0" (player), "Side 1" (enemy) and one player that is "Side 2" Neutral. For the remaining players it's up to you who will be enemy and who'll be the ally. One thing is certain there are a lot of possible combinations.

Game will by default assign players to Side 0 or 1 using the following system (this example uses 5 players):

Player 0 - Players forces
Player 1 - Enemy forces
Player 2 - Player 0 allies
Player 3 - Player 1 allies
Player 4 - Neutral forces

You of course don't have to follow that, you can change it as you wish by selecting Player and then selecting Side 0 or Side 1. (see the pictures below):

Once you decided how many players and which side they'll support it's click OK and you're done here.

3. This is an optional step, but it might be wise to do it.

See it's not enough to simply add sides. MapEditor won't assign different factions automatically. You'll have to do it manually. In MapEditor underneath diplomacy tab there is "Units Creation Info" tab. Open it.

It will show all players except "Neutral Player" (in this case player 4). Click on a plus and then click on a "Party Name". Select the faction from the menu that shows up. This servers the purpose of changing Gunners on arty. Unless this is selected Gunners will still be like default ones (in this case USSR).

After that we have nearly finished Phase 1.

4. Final step is:

No matter how many different players you place, under no circumstances you may place new Player (Player 3, 4, 5, etc) unit on a map. When you double click on a unit you can see the choice between the players. Leave it at 0 or 1. (see the picture)

Reason for this is simple: if you change the player on the unit in MapEditor and then start a map, the unit will not show up. You can't even call it via reinforcement script.

This step also has one more thing to do: assign ScriptID to a unit. Place any script ID on a unit (don't forget it). For example I placed ScriptID 4999 for Player 0 allies and 4998 for Player 1 Allies (enemy). (see the picture)

Finally we have completed the Phase 1.

  II - Phase 2 is a lot more simpler it consists of two steps:

Step 1: anywhere in the script place the following lines (I placed them in function Init() )

function Init()
 ChangePlayer(4998, 3); ------4998 ScriptID, 3 - Player
 ChangePlayer(4999, 2); ------4999 ScriptID, 2 - Player
Suicide();
end;

This means that as soon as the map is started units that are assigned ScriptID of 4998 and 4999 will change Players. You can add multiple units under the same ScriptID.

After the change take place you'll be able to see what your allies can see. Units will also engage the enemy. You still must give them commands for the AI (Move commands, Ressuply commands etc).

Step 2: It's not really a step but a test to see if everything runs (as you'll see in the picture).

As you'll notice you can see what your allies see - there's no need to change Fog of War or anything else.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Tutorial] How to blow up a bridge using a script

This title remembers me of "To Kill a Mockingbird", and I don't know why, maybe because the literal translation of that book's title into Spanish is "How to kill a...". Nevermind.

The question was posted on Blitz Srbija's chat box and wisely answered by Squire James. We all know the destruction of a building or a unit can be scripted, but how do we script that when we're working with bridges if we can't assign them an ID in the MapEditor. Well, easy:

You have to save the map as an XML and then manual edit it with an XML Editor to add the script ID to the bridge pieces.

BMP-2 series!

The CSLA 1.11 and CSLA 2.0's models have been updated and received new sets of animations (11 instead of 3), new exhaust points (the old ones had been placed in the wrong point) and new skins.
Moreover, the BMP-2 without skirts and the BMP-2K have been added to the series.

CSLA 1.0 - CSLA 1.1 (Roll-up) - CSLA 1.11 - CSLA 2.0 - CSLA 2.0.1.
That means it won't be released as a patch since it changes many paths, deletes unnecesary objects and units included in CSLA 2.0 and updates a great amount of bugs and little mistakes.

Mi-24 & Su-22M4

Unreleased CSLA 2.1

Those models were expected to be released as CSLA 2.1 about two years ago (November 2012), but we decided to expand the series and add more stuff so that we could create a bigger release: CSLA 3.0

What does ČSLA mean?

The Czechoslovak People's Army (Czech: Československá lidová armáda, Slovak: Československá ľudová armáda, ČSLA) was the armed forces of the Czechoslovak State from 1951 until 1990. On 14 March 1990 the Army's name was reverted to the Czechoslovak Army removing the adjective "People's" from the name. Since 1955 it was a member force of the Warsaw Pact.

The force was split into the Army of the Czech Republic and the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic after 1 January 1993 split of the two states.

Note: We, the ČSLA for Blitzkrieg team, use CSLA instead of ČSLA because it's much easier for us since the Č character isn't avalaible in our keyboards. However, we emphasize that the correct spelling of acronym/symbol is ČSLA.

So... the next one who dares to wonder what ČSLA means will be OT-something fired :)))

Small update for mappers

The following models were deleted from CSLA 3.0.:

- BRDM-2_Warsaw_Pact
- BWP-2

Moreover, the BTR-6OPB got its keyname changed to BTR-60PB. I've made sure that doesn't affect any of the already released maps.

More updates concerning the current work will be published soon.

Defence of Homeland

CSLA 2.0 includes a reworked version of CSLA 1.1's original Defence of Homeland map, as well as the original one addapted to be used as a multiplayer map.

Have you ever wanted to take a look at the whole Defence of Homeland 2.0 map?

Getting some turrets smoothed.

The next CSLA 3.0 is planned to include several revisions of some of the 'models families', such as BRDM-2's (new animations and skins), BMP-2's (new animations and skins), M923's (new animations, models and skins), Tatra-813's (new animations and models), etc.

Maybe the 'family' that has been reworked that stands out the most is T-55's. Well, these models are done. They are based on original CSLA 1.0's model, created by Ice Bear and in the 3.0's have got, among other improvements, rotating wheels. So, if those models are done, why am I talking about them? The fact is that they still need a small improvement which is consisting on a revision of their turret. See the image attached above and you'll understand it.

On the left you can see the old one, on the right, the new one.

Alternative CSLA's storyline, by SVKblitz

Here's SVKblitz's storyline for CSLA. He posted it on our old topic (check the previous posts for more information) and I don't want you to miss it: Somebody can find useful and maybe even interesting enough to make a map based on it. That doesn't mean the next release will include maps based on that storyline, CSLA's storyline remains the same, but I am sure his work deserves being posted here so that you can all enjoy it.

SVKblitz is a young talented Blitzkrieg modder from Slovakia who is currently working along with Stanenberg (another modder and mapper from the community) on his own MOD: Operation Overlord. I want to wish them all the best in their project.

Mikhail Gorbachev  was elected General Secretary by the Politburo on 11 March 1985 with primary goal to revive the Soviet economy after the stagnant Brezhnev years. In an effort to revive the stagnant Soviet economy, in 1985 new Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev began a process of increasing political liberalization in the communist one-party state. In 1985, he announced that the Soviet economy was stalled and that reorganization was needed. Gorbachev soon realized that fixing the Soviet economy would be nearly impossible without reforming the political and social structure of the Communist nation.

In Riga, Latvia, on 26 December 1986, in the early morning hours after a rock concert, some 300 working-class Latvian youths gathered in Riga's Cathedral Square and marched down Lenin Avenue toward the Freedom Monument shouting, "Soviet Russia out! Free Latvia!" Security forces confronted the marchers, and several police vehicles were overturned.

On August 23, 1987, on the 48th anniversary of the secret protocols of Molotov Pact between Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin that ceded the three independent Baltic states to the Soviet Union in 1940, thousands of demonstrators marked the occasion in the capitals of all three Baltic states to sing anthems of independence and to hear defiant speeches honoring the victims of Stalin. On October 17, 1987 3,000 Armenians demonstrated in Yerevan complaining about the condition of Lake Sevan, the Nairit chemicals plant, and the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant, and air pollution in Yerevan.

At the beggining of 1988 situation is starting to be very dramatical. Wave of anti-russian demostrations is flooding baltic republics and in March civil is starting on Caucasus. In april violence is expanding to western ukraine where ultranacionalists movements fight street battles with Soviet security units. As a reaction to this situation Gorbachev say its only temporary crisis and whole situation will be resolved soon. He also declare that isolation of eastern block will be ended and peace negotiations with NATO wil take place with effort to prevent demonstrations in satelite states at least for a while.
In may 9 after victory parade on Red Square Gorbachev presents his " 5 years 5 steps" plan whichs goal is end of Cold War and prevent threat of nuclear war in future.

 1 - withdraw soviet troops from Afghanistan to the end of year 1988

2 - start peace negotiations with NATO with effort to end Cold war and disband both military organizations (NATA and Warsaw Pact)

3 - resolve internal problems of Soviet Union (Baltic Crisis, Ukraine Crisis, Caucasus Civil War)

4 - start economical and social reforms, liberalization of society and end isolation of eastern block

5  - destroy at least 50% of worlds military material uncluding nuclear warheads to the 1993 - cooperating with United Nations

At the end of his speech Gorbachev say new era of modern communism is comming. After this speech whole eastern block is in euphory. However politic leaders and media on the west say Gorbachevs plan is unreal and whole Soviet block is near collapse.

In june civil war on Caucasus reach 5 000 dead and situation in baltic republics is critical.
In July 12 estonia declare independence from Soviet Union.  Latvia follow 2 days later and Lithuania follow in july 22.

In August after weeks of street fighting in Lviv and Kiev ultranacionalists declare independence of ukraine in Lviv but after operation by special forces,  most of radicals are captured. However from April to August 458 ultranacionalists,  92 member of security units and 6 special forces soldiers were killed in clashes.

In rest of the country is situation stabilezed and sitation in satelite states is stabilized as well as people wait for realization of Gorbachevs promising plan. However anti-soviet demostrations are starting in eastern germany.

As the Soviet Union is clearly collapsing,  USA realize that they have unique opportunity how to wipe out Soviet Union forever and take way to their resources such as oil, gas and coal.
They also realize China wont be be able to fight alone against USA in next 20 years and without USSR help Arab countries wont be able to resist agains Israel.

However in September 1988 Soviet miltary inteligence get information about NATO plan for massive preventive strike against targets in USSR with effort to wipe out nuclear werheads from action. They also get that USA want create pupet states in eastern europe and get acces to Soviet resources.

KGB is aware of this situation and in October a group of eight high-level officials within the Soviet government, the Communist party and the KGB form "State Committee on the State of Emergency". In October 7 1988 chairman of KGB Vladimir Kryuchkov make first public speech where he say following:

" In September we got shocked informations. Government of the United States doesnt want negotiate with Soviet Union about end of Cold War. What they want is Union itself.  We got informations about that USA are preparing massive preventive strike against our nuclear warheads when soviet union will collapse and there will be only Russia left.  Their goals are our resources and they want make slaves from our people. We cant allow them to do this!"

After this speech Gennady Yanayev continue:

" Leaders of our country are pushing us to the dark times. They are destroying our culture, our economy, our honour. Leaders of USA see our leader is weak and we are falling. They know if we will continue in this way we will collapse and they will be able to take our land without problems.  They want make slaves from all of us. Not only from Russians, but from other nations as well.  I say to all workers and farmers, we will resisnt egainst western imperialism and we well save our brave nations."

People in whole eastern block are shocked from this situation and massive demonstrations are starting across whole country. People want throw away Gorbachev and replace him with State Committee on the State of Emergency. At the end of october almost 75% of Soviet army is with State Committee side and in satelite states its around 50%.

Gorbachev declare thats are only KGBs lies and provocations so he keep 30% of Warsaw Pact army which are loyal to him. However State Comittee argument with that American soldier were spotted in baltic, caucasus , KGB has information about planned preventive  strikes against State Comittee and about planned NATO help for Gorbachevs loyalists.

Politic leaders in USA say KGB lie about situation but in fact NATO is preparing for attack and  the increased coverage and Media campaign against situation in USSR ramps up in intensity with effort to find excuse for military operation in USSR.

In November 1988 is Soviet Union de-facto divided into 2 parts and whole block is in total chaos. Germans use this situation and  they break Berlin Wall. In december soviet troops retreat from Afghanistan and from Germany. However some State Comittee troops refused retreat from est germany and  several clashes took place which left around 60 dead NATO soldiers and 90 dead State Comitte soldiers.

At the end of the year is situation in eastern block chaotical and whole block is close to huge civil war.

"Which faction would you like us to work on?"
